BEGINNER TRAINING

Questions for New Handgun Owners and First-Time Students

Which course is best for a beginner?

For brand-new handgun owners or anyone with little to no previous shooting experience, we recommend starting with our Basic Handgun Training or NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course. Both cover essential firearm safety, fundamentals of marksmanship, safe handling, and live-fire range practice in a supportive, low-stress environment.

What is the difference between Basic Handgun Training and NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting?

Basic Handgun Training is our customized foundational course tailored specifically to practical self-defense, handgun operation, and safe storage. The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting follows the standardized national NRA curriculum and provides an official certificate of completion often required for certain advanced courses or state certifications.

Can I take private instruction before a group class?

Yes! Private one-on-one instruction is an excellent option for first-time students who prefer personalized pacing, have specific questions, or feel more comfortable learning firearm safety fundamentals individually before joining a group setting.

What comes after beginner training?

After mastering basic safety and pistol mechanics, students commonly progress to Arizona Concealed Carry (CCW), USCCA Concealed Carry & Home Defense, or specialized skill-builder sessions focusing on defensive accuracy, holster draw, and situational awareness.
